Our logo includes a portion of one of Federico García Lorca’s signature drawings (“Lorca” with a personified crescent moon and its reflection) that the poet-playwright dedicated to his beloved theater collaborator, Margarita Xirgu in 1935. After Lorca’s assassination in 1936, Xirgu would commit the remaining thirty-three years of her life and career in exile to the regeneration of her friend’s artistic corpus in Latin America. The complete original drawing is part of the Margarita Xirgu family archive (“Dedicatoria de Federico García Lorca en el libro de firmas de Margarita Xirgu Rico, Archivo familiar Prats Prat” http://margaritaxirgu.es/castellano/vivencia2/63lorcac/63lorcac.htm).
Watercolor images featured on our website are by Spencer Reece. “Coffee in my room at the Catedral del Redentor, Madrid, Spain, April 2015” was previously published in All the Beauty Still Left: A Poet’s Painted Book of Hours (Turtle Point Press, 2021).
